…Seeks Further Collaboration With The University
The Lagos State Scholarship Board (LSSB) led by the Board Secretary, Mr. Abdur-Rahman Lekki has paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji – Bello.
In his speech, Mr. Lekki averred that the board was in the University to seek more areas of collaboration in its efforts towards making the processes involved in the scholarship and verification exercises for qualified indigent and academically outstanding indigenes of the State seamless.
He said the award of scholarship and bursary to the aforementioned set of students, which has been an annual programme of Lagos State Government through the Board, started in 1962 and has continuously been a veritable avenue for the promotion of the educational developmental policies of the State while subsidizing education thereby assisting indigenes and residents of the State alike in achieving their educational aspirations.
His words “…the board is desirous of forging a mutually beneficial working relationship with all Tertiary Institutions in Lagos State.
The visit is also in line with Mr. Governor’s initiative of expanding the scope of students and academic funding in the State,” he said.
An alumnus of the University, Mr. Lekki commended Lagos State University’s verification process and called on other sister universities to embrace LASU’s model.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji – Bello, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adenike Omotunde Boyo thanked the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for all the support giving to education in the State.
She assured of the University’s support to the Lagos State Scholarship Board at all times.
The Acting Dean, Students’ Affairs, Prof. Tajudeen Abayomi Olumoko applauded the visit and explained the processes of the verification exercise of students at the University.
He promised the support of the Students’ Affairs exercises to the team.
The Director, Information, and Communication Technology (DICT), Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin affirmed that Lagos State University is presently a “Smart University” in the Smart City.
He informed that the University has not commenced the 2022/2023 academic session, adding that, LASU is ahead of other institutions.
The Chairman of the Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (IIVC), Dr. Maruf Animashaun expressed appreciation to the team from the Board, saying “We are indeed very happy and delighted for this visit. It’s fulfilling.”
