Governor Abiodun Meets NYSC National Governing Board Chair, Pledges Connection To Ikenne Grid, More Commitments

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Wednesday at his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta,  assured members of the National Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) to sustain and increase commitment to the success of the scheme in the state.
Governor Abiodun stated this as he played host to members of the Board led by its Chairman, Ambassador Fatima Bala Abubakar.
The Board Chairman, Ambassador Abubakar commended Governor Abiodun’s laudable support for the scheme in the state, saying the visit to the state was an assessment of the camp and courtesy visit to the office of the governor.
Ambassador Abubakar praised Governor for making the Sagamu orientation comfortable and healthy for corps member and staff of the scheme and acknowledged the N6 million support for the upkeep of the camp.
Besides, the Board chairman sought further assistants from the governor for the connection of electricity supply at the camp to the national grid from Ikenne to improve power supply at the camp.
In addition, Ambassador Abubakar sought the assistance of the governor for the refurbishing of corpers lodge at Okelewo in Abeokuta and the rickety ambulance at the camp.
In his response, Governor Dapo Abiodun, who lauded the quality of the Board’s membership, assured that the concerns raised by Ambassador Abubakar would be addressed.
He urged the Ogun State Bureau of Electrical Services to look into the electricity challenge at the camp.
Be rest assured of our continued commitment and support for the national scheme. It is a laudable scheme and we will do everything within our power to support the scheme, ” the Governor added.
At the Sagamu permanent orientation camp, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka who ushered members of the National Governing Board into the camp where they were received with applauds.
Ambassador Abubakar and her team acknowledged the rating of the camp as one of the best in the country and urged the corps members to take advantage of the service year to become better Nigerians.
“The happiness on the camp is not surprising because you have one of the best camps in this country. We must thank the government and the people of Ogun State because they are the ones that have made this possible for you to enjoy at the orientation camp.
“We have gone to the governor we have thanked him. We have shown him our appreciation for what the state has been doing to ensure NYSC meet your expectations and mandate.
“I want to say that you must do your best in your Place of Primary Assignments. You have to show that you also appreciate what the government and the people of Ogun State are doing to make your stay enjoyable and safe.
The Board Chairman urged the corps members to always appreciate kind gestures by corps employers for provision of accommodation and payment of stipend by being diligent and productive.
“Be security conscious, and diligent in your work. I wish you all the best. I urge you to remain safe, continue to be healthy and continue to be good citizens, promote unity of Nigeria. Your country needs you,” Ambassador Abubakar added.
