Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Agro Allied Community Development Service (CDS) in Batagarawa LGA of Katsina State, in collaboration with the Nigerian Incentive – based Risk Sharing for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), has embarked on the training of poultry farmers in the area.
President of CDS, Aliyu Abdulkadir Danhauwa, in his address, said the
programme was aimed at impacting basic knowledge to farmers on how to keep and maintain the poultry for higher productivity.
Danhauwa also maintained that they would receive additional training on the application of modern agricultural rearing processes towards achieving maximum productivity.
In her remarks, the state NYSC coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad, expressed
appreciation for the initiative by the corps members to carry out the training.
The coordinator, represented by the LG Inspector, Alhaji Isa Tanko, disclosed that the CDS was looking at empowering the beneficiaries in their next outing.
She called on the various communities to avail themselves of the opportunity of having the corps members with them to gain more from them by supporting and encouraging them to carry out more community-oriented projects in their areas.
In another development, members of the NYSC Anti-Corruption group in Batagarawa Local Government Area, have embarked on an anti-corruption rally to intimate members of the public on the dangers of corruption in the society.
The rally which started from the local government secretariat ended at the palace of the District Head of Batagarawa.
In his address, the president of the group, Ahamodu Bitrus Simon, said the programme was aimed at enlightening members of the community on the need
to shun all corruption acts in the area.
