Teaching, learning, and research at the Department of Chemistry, University of Lagos (UNILAG), have received a boost with a newly refurbished Organic Laboratory.

The refurbishment was done by Vitafoam Nigeria Limited and former students of Professors Oluwole Familoni and Olayinka Asekun.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics & Research), Professor Bolanle Oboh who commissioned the laboratory expressed gratitude to the donors, on behalf of the University Management, for their willingness to contribute to the infrastructural development of the institution.

“It is a delight to see that the duty of infrastructural development has not been left to the university alone. It is most gratifying to see that former students of the department, who used the laboratory during their time, also have a part in it. This will go a long way for the Chemistry Department when the next round of accreditation comes, and we are grateful for it”, she said.

The former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics & Research), Professor Oluwole Familoni, who is a senior faculty in the department, commended the donors for their thoughtfulness.

He assured them of the readiness of students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels to put the facility to good use.

A Plaque of Appreciation was presented to the Group Managing Director of Vitafoam Nigeria Limited, Mr. Taiwo Adeniyi, an alumnus of the Department of Chemistry, in recognition of his company’s contribution to the project.
