Authority of the Fountain University, Osogbo, has announced the appointement of a Professor of Food Science and Technology, Olayinka Karim, as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

In a statement made available to newsmen by Adenekan Sheriff, the university’s Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, the appointment of Karim on Monday was approved after an emergency meeting in Osogbo.

The statement said the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council,  Dr. Awa Ibraheem, announced the decision of the Board of Trustees.

“The Pro-Chancellor informed that the appointment, which will take effect from March 1 is for a four-year term in the first instance as the tenure of the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Amidu Olalekan Sanni, lapses on Tuesday, February 28,“ the statement said.

Ibraheem praised the outgoing VC, Prof. Sanni, for his passion, forthrightness and dedication to duty.

The Pro-chancellor urged the new Vice-Chancellor to be steadfast in doing her best towards uplifting the university to the next level,” the statement read.
