Ayodele, Ex-LASUSU Leader Harps On Quality Mentorship For Students

A former student of the Lagos State University (LASU), Comrade Adewale Ayodele has emphasised c the need for students to submit themselves to quality mentorship to achieve greatness and development and fulfill their life ambitions.

The ex-Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU) leader gave the counsel while delivering the keynote address during the National Parliamentary Summit 6.0 organised by the LASUSU executive at the Students’ Arcade on the Ojo campus recently.
Ayodele,  the keynote Speaker who doubles as the State Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State, charged all participants to look for good mentors to achieve their positive goals in life.

He said: “Mentorship is very important, if you want to develop, get a good mentor, you cannot develop without having good mentors, these are the people that will help you in the attainment of your goal in life.”

He emphasised that the civic responsibility of a student is to make sure that he/she is law-abiding, reads and passes examinations and inculcate a good learning character to become a better person in society.

He further advised them to strive hard to achieve success, be problem solvers, job creators and not a liability to society at large.

The 32nd LASUSU Speaker affirmed that the essence of the Summit was to ensure strong participation of individuals from the public service and other organizations connected to their vision to discuss issues trending and to further have a robust relationship and connection with these well-established individuals “…This is the legacy we have laid and we have continued to follow and it’s never-ending.” she said.

The highlight of the Summit was the presentation of Awards of Excellence to personalities within and outside the University.

An award of honour was presented to Dr. Ibrahim Fatoyinbo (Lecturer, Department of Mass Communication, Lagos State University of Science and Technology), Hon. Edidi Babatunde, Hon. Ibrahim Oladimeji, (Former Chairman of Lagos State Speakers’ Forum Youth/Policy Development Strategy), Mrs. Damilola James (Youth Advocate and Social Policy Practitioner) and the APC Youth Leader, Lagos State, Dr. Muritala Seriki.

The Acting Coordinator, of the Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPPR), Mr. Olaniyi Jeariogbe was equally honoured for his mentorship as he bagged the Meritorious Award Of Service and appreciation for his selfless service.

The National Parliamentary Summit 6.0 was also graced by the Director, Lagos State University Directorate of Advancement (LASUDA), Prof. ‘Yinka Okubena – Dipeolu, Deputy Registrar/Head, LASU Counseling Unit, Dr. Ayeni, past Speakers and Leaders of students of the University and students from various departments, faculties and schools.
