The Vice-Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, (ABUAD), Prof. Smaranda Olarinde, has charged new students to be of good behaviour as the university authorities would not tolerate anti-social tendencies.
The University don also cautioned them against keeping bad company, as appropriate sanctions await anyone culpable.
Prof. Olarinde handed down the warning during the 14th matriculation ceremony for 1,907  new students held at the Alfa Belgore Hall on Saturday.
Olarinde charged the fresh men and women to shun vices and anti-social behaviours which are capable of ruining their bright and thriving future.
“The vision of the institution is to reform and provide functional education by example and lead others in quality education, industry, service and character as well as discipline”.
Olarinde pointed out that the students should enjoy learning which would enable them to learn, acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes and become good problem-solvers.
She urged them to “Communicate positively, have a vision and positive attitude, and develop a culture of curiosity, time and management skills and to nurture themselves”
“Concentrate on your studies, doing exactly what your parents expect
of you and expect exemplary conduct and excellent results from you”
“ABUAD is part of the fabric of our founder’s uncommon ways in making impossibility possible with this institution, where students have quality, functional and transformative education that is unique in many ways”
In his remarks, the founder and Chancellor, Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, charged the students on industry, service and charter, saying they would achieve everything in life if they abide by the rules and regulations of the institution.
Chief Babalola, however,  commended the student’s representative response on behalf of others, Master Aina Oluwafikunnayomi Tamilore, describing ABUAD as a school meant to reform education in Nigeria and set the pace for educational revolution in the country.
