The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig Gen Y. D Ahmed has implored Corps Members to discharge their duties in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections, with a high sense of responsibility and neutrality.
The DG NYSC made this known in an address delivered by his representative, the Coordinator NYSC Imo State, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor when he presided over the Closing of the orientation course for the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to the state at the permanent orientation camp, Eziama Obaire.
While commending the Corps Members for living up to expectations during the orientation programme, he enjoined them to also perform their duties at their primary assignment with diligence and in consonance with the NYSC Acts and Bye-Laws.
He charged them to build on the skills acquired by availing themselves of opportunities for post-camp training as well as integrating with members of their respective host communities.
Besides, the DG cautioned the Corps Members against unauthorized and night journeys, urging them to cut short their trips from six o’clock in the evening and pass the night at NYSC lodges, Military barracks, and other locations designated as safe.
He equally appealed to the Corps Employers to always accept the Corps Members posted to them and help in mentoring them in good faith.
He used the medium to appreciate the Federal Government, State Governments, and Local Government Councils for their unwavering support of the NYSC scheme at all times.
