A telecommunication operator in Nigeria has announced a partnership reached with Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) to finance skill training for youth, and youth empowerment in general.
The partnership will enable the firm to support and fund the growth of twenty (20) students that will enroll in Yabatech’s upcoming skill-in-demand project.
However, the duration of the partnership is one year which is subject to renewal, in which the telecommunication firm shall reward the top 10 recipients with mobile phone startup kits worth N345, 700.00 each to empower them with the needed tools to start a sustainable business.
Furthermore, the firm shall pay the sum of N5, 457,000.00 as a sponsorship fee which includes; honoraria to facilitators of theoretical training (3months) for 20 students, honoraria to master craftsperson for practical training (3months) for 20 students, transport fare to 20 enrolled students, and full mobile phone related startup kits for 10 students.
The Sponsorship Fee shall be paid in advance to facilitate Yabatech of the Services subject to the provisions of the agreement, while the telecoms firm shall withhold the cost for the full mobile phone-related startup kits until the top 10 Recipients emerge following the conclusion of the Project.
The management of the college on behalf of the staff and students expressed happiness about the benevolence act and the partnership of progress.
