Ahead of the the forthcoming
2023 Mock Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examination (UTME),
the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has trained 650 technical officers to update their knowledge on
innovations put in place for the seamless conduct of the 2023 Mock-UTME and the main UTME.
According to the Board, the training and the examination are in essence, a way of validity test to recertify its entire technical staff to ensure that only the best hands are deployed for the 2023 exercise.
Speaking at the virtual training session which was coordinated from the Board’s National Head quarters, Bwari, Abuja, the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, said that every year, the Board conducts training, examination and certification for every outing and only qualified staff are enlisted in the exercise.
He said, “All staff and ad-hoc
personnel are as good as their
current results.”
Besides, the Registrar explained that the training and the
concomitant test were meant to
update and assess their level of
technical capabilities, stressing that only those who pass the skills test would be enlisted for the exercise.
The Registrar, in the Board’s weekly bulletin, also disclosed that for the 2023 exercise starting with the Mock-UTME, the Board had deployed some cutting-edge technology to preclude all forms of examination malpractice that could mar the conduct of the examination.
Prof. Oloyede stated that part of the measures to safeguard the sanctity of the examination was that no candidate would be allowed to login to the examination one hour into the stipulated examination start time as the system has been so designed to prevent such.
Also speaking, the Director,
Information Technology Services
(ITS), Mr. Fabian Okoro, told the participants, “The success or failure of this examination hinges on the ability of all officers to work together as a team with everyone doing their best.”
Okoro charged all officers to be
diligent and take their assignment
seriously as no excuse would be
entertained.
On the issue of rescheduling of
examination, Mr. Okoro stated that if for any reason a centre experiences any challenge that hinders it from commencing examination one hour into the start time, that session would be cancelled and the candidates who were affected would be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, the Board has
directed candidates, who had
registered for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) optional Mock-UTME scheduled for Thursday, 30th March, 2023, that their
Notification Slips is ready for printing from Thursday, 23rd March, 2023.
All candidates for the Mock-UTME are to visit https://www.jamb.gov.ng., CLICK on 2023 Mock-UTME on the MENU button to print their slips after inputting their Registration Number.
According to the Board, the directive is only applicable to those candidates, who had indicated interest to take the mock
examination.
The Board in its weekly bulletin stated that the Notification Slip would contain the Candidates’ Registration Number, Venue, Date, and Time of the Examination to enable them to easily locate their centres before the examination.
It enjoined to be at their centres one hour before the examination for biometric verification.
“The Board also reiterated that the
scheduled commencement time for the examination is sacrosanct. In addition, the Board restated its zero tolerance for examination
malpractice.
“In the same vein, candidates are
advised against going into the
examination halls with prohibited
items such as wristwatches,
calculators, flash drives, phones,
among others. They are also warned to desist from the application of laale henna) to do fancied drawings and paintings on their hands to avoid unnecessary interference with the whorls of their fingers which could impede biometric verification.”
