ActionAid Nigeria in collaboration with Leadway Assurance has renovated and handed over Tarabutu Primary School, Bursari LGA, Yobe State.
During the presentation, Hajiya Suwaiba Ibrahim, in a speech she delivered on behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of ActionAid Nigeria, said the State Universal Basic Education Board, Promoting Rights in Schools (PRS) is a participatory framework for citizen’s engagement in quality, inclusive public education.
She added that ActionAid Nigeria’s Local Rights Programme (LRP) is determined to promote rights in Yobe State schools and achieve Continuous Education for Primary pupils.
According to her, ActionAid Nigeria in partnership with Leadway Assurance went ahead to renovate the dilapidated block of the classroom, an office, and a store together with the provision of furniture to promote access to quality and inclusive public education for Children in the Tarabutu community.
“It is also intended to provide them with a safe and conducive atmosphere for effective teaching and learning.
The National Bureau of Statistics indicates that 10 States in Nigeria are homes to more than half of Nigeria’s out-of-school children with the figure of 983,469 school-age Children. 427,230 were found not to be in School, representing 43 percent (or 4 of 10 children).
ActionAid Nigeria is committed to working in Yobe State to reduce these statistics.
She used the forum to appreciate the generous donations, partnership, and collaboration with Leadway Assurance and enjoined individuals and corporate organizations to partner with ActionAid Nigeria in the community sponsorship initiative.
She said the Community Sponsorship is an ActionAid Nigeria initiative that allows individuals to make voluntary regular donations to support extremely poor and vulnerable communities.
“Our priorities are the extremely poor and vulnerable women and Children in some of the hard-to-reach parts of Nigeria.
On his part, the Executive Director of Yobe Peace and Community Development Initiative (YOPCODI)” Abudulkadir Kura said the goal of ActionAid Nigeria is to support education in Yobe State,
He appreciated the support of the other relevant stakeholders for the joint participation in the achievements of the purpose of the project which is to give back to the community a quality and sound education for out of children in Yobe State.
