A call has gone to critical
stakeholders in the education
sector to partner with the Board in the task of delivering flawless and credible Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Making this call in Umuahia, was
the Abia State Coordinator, Mr. Johnson Adebiyi, during his interaction with some monitors, who are cardinal players in the conduct of the 2023 UTME in the State at XYZ Computer
Technologies, CBT Centre, Umuahia.
According to him, stakeholders
participation in the activities of the
Board is a structured approach to
securing the support of stakeholders concerning major policy decisions of the Board.
Members of the monitoring team
included the Chief External Examiner (CEE), the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike, Prof. Maduebibi Ofo lwe; the Abia
State Commissioner for Education,
Barr. I.C. Mark; the Commandant,
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence
Corps, Abia State Command, Mr.
Paul Igwebuike; and the State
Technical Advisor, Dr. Ollawa
Ikechukwu.
The State Coordinator explained
that the Board’s State Office,
Umuahia had carried out wide-
ranging and strategic consultations with critical stakeholders in the buildup to the 2023 UTME to brief them on the modalities for the conduct of the 2023 UTME.
Furthermore, Mr. Adebiyi disclosed
that the joint monitoring of the 2023 UTME was a sequel to the
consultations made by the State
Office as part of the Stakeholders
Engagement Initiatives of the Board
to collaborate, exchange ideas as
well as share goals and plans with
relevant stakeholders on the UTME
project.
He also explained that candidates,
who were unable to commence their examination within their scheduled time, had been rescheduled for another day so as not to deny any candidate the opportunity of sitting the examination.
He concluded by thanking the CEE,
Prof. Ofo for providing purposeful
leadership for the Board’s
stakeholders in the State.
He also expressed appreciation to the State Government through the
Commissioner for Education, Barr.
IC. Mark, for being a dependable
ally of the Board especially with
respect to the provision of sound
infrastructural facilities at CBT
centres in the State.
In his remarks, the CEE, Prof. Ofo,
commended the Board for its
various innovations and urged the
Management not to relent in its
efforts at providing world-class
assessment.
