Adedoyin: Osun Hotelier To Die For Killing OAU Student

One year and six months after, justice finally came on Tuesday with Justice Oyebola Ojo, Chief Justice of Oyo State, sending Rahman Adedoyin, owner of Hilton Hotel Ile-Ife, to the gallows.

Rahman Adedoyin would hang by his neck until declared dead for killing Timothy Adegoke, a post-graduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in November 2021.

Adedoyin, a popular hotelier and businessman, is to die alongside three of his staff, after the court agreed with Femi Falana, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a human rights lawyer, who prosecuted the case that they were guilty as charged, for the unlawful killing of the deceased.

The deceased travelled to Osun State from Lagos and lodged in the hotel as his temporary abode to enable him to take his post-graduate examinations.

Ojo, found Adedoyin and three of his staff guilty of murder and conspiracy, based on circumstantial evidence which linked him and the other culprits to the crime, on Tuesday morning during the final day of the court session, which began in earnest in 2022, amid tight security at the entrance and premises of Osun High Court, Osogbo, ahead of the judgment.

Adegoke died mysteriously at Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife in 2021 and the owner of the hotel, Dr. Raheem Adedoyin with six of his staff Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola have been standing trial on 18 counts of conspiracy, murder, felony, indecent interference of the corpse, alteration, and cancellation of receipt and oath-taking to prevent justice.

The court in agreeing with Femi Falana, SAN, who pointed to all evidence linking Adedoying and his staff to the crime, discountenanced the arguments of Yusuf Alli (SAN), who after a strenuous attempt to stop Falana from taking on the case, insisted that there was no evidence that his clients murdered Adegoke, arguing that in murder cases there must not be any shred of doubt.
