The management and pupils of Excellent Foundation College Schools, Lagos Saturday defied early morning showers to honour outstanding pupils and exit of college Senior Secondary School 3 students from the academy.
The event tagged: “Greater Tomorrow” was well attended by parents, guardians and guests featured music, a special rendition by the college choir, prize presentations, a change of guard by prefects, exhortation, the launch of the College Year Book and special presentations by Zenith Plc and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
In his words of advice, the Coordinator and Proprietor, Sir Temple Ogueri Onyeukwu urged the ongoing SSS 3 graduates of the college to be guided always by the deep knowledge, moral upbringing, and academic learning gained as students of the college.
He said, “We as your teachers have the responsibility to open the door of responsible living, knowledge, success and excellence for you to leverage.
“Success and excellence can only be achieved through diligence, dedication, determination, discipline, hard work, focus and sacrifice by sowing seeds.
“If you neglect these attributes, that will be to your peril. I urge you to sustain the excellence already imbued into your academic sojourn at the Excellence Foundation College, he added.
Earlier, the Principal and team head, Omotayo Temitope, in his welcome address praised God for the safety of the entire staff and students for preserving the lives of all during the year.
He congratulated the Coordinator of the College, Sir Onyeukwu, the entire staff, parents and guardians for sustaining the standard of the academy over the years.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. It gladdens my heart to know the humble beginning of the 2023 graduating set at their point of admission into the college not only in physical strength but also in
numerical strength. Today, it is a great testimony as their latter-day is far better than the beginning”.
“Remember the motto of your Alma Mater that says, “Knowledge the Foundation of Progress”. Let this be your guiding principle. At this stage, you need to know who you are and discover yourself. Remember most great men discovered themselves at a very tender age as every great achievement starts with a dream, ” he encouraged the students.
Chairman of the occasion, Brother Chris Abasa and Father of the day, Very Reverend Simeon Okelola both urged the ex-students to take along with them the excellence foundation laid by the college, saying the graduation marked a great milestone for them to achieve greatness in their pursuit of academic learning and other endeavours.
They encouraged the students not to forget their Alma Mater by giving back and refraining from joining bad groups as they journey into the larger society.
One of the highlights of the event was the unveiling, review and launch of an all-glossy 88-page 2023 Year Book.
Others are the presentation of prizes and awards to the outgoing and outstanding students and the change of guards between former male and female senior prefects of the college.
A guardian, Segun Matemilola praised the management of the academy for keeping to their promise to return their children after graduation as new beings.
“I rejoice with the College management. Congratulations, ” he added.
