As learning activities for the third term winds down in Lagos public and private schools, the management of Emcoy Favoured Schools, Ogba-Ijaye, Lagos has appealed for increased cooperation from parents and guardians.
The host and Founder of the school, Dr. Emmanuel Oyewole made the call as the school marked a three-in-one celebration of valedictory, prize giving and 30th graduation themed: “Keeping the Standard” at the Oragon Centre in Ifako-Ijaye, Lagos.
Dr. Oyewole, who defied the heavy rainfall, expressed appreciation to parents and guardians for their unwavering belief in the quality of learning at the school since its establishment several years ago, added that the school was built on a high standard that has continued to soar to greater heights.
Going down memory lane, the Proprietor said, “Emcoy Favoured Schools as it is known today started on the 12” day of January 1987 with the name Progress Preparatory School. The school started with twelve (12) pupils. The proprietors were: Mr. Joshua Lawal and Mr. Femi Oyewole.
“The name of the school was later changed to Nuel Jos children school, and finally changed to Emcoy Favoured School as it is known today. The school was built on a very high standard and it is that standard that we are still keeping or operating. Hence, the title of my speech: Keeping the Standard.”
Oyewole assured parents and guardians and other stakeholders that the school would continue to provide sound and qualitative education for children from Nursery 1 to Senior Secondary School 3.
He added, “Dear parents to be precise, education is the best legacy anyone can give his/her children. Education is wealth. The common curse of mankind is “folly and ignorance” according to William Shakespeare
Emphasizing that the value of education is immeasurable, Dr. Oluwole advised that no pain must be spared to get it and sought maximum cooperation and support, saying teachers and parents must play their part.
In his words of exaltation, Pastor Afolabi Femi of the Deeperlife Bible Church, Meiran Assembly urged the graduating student and their colleagues to accept the gift of God in their lives.
He appealed to the parents to monitor and help nurtured the noticeable potential gift of God in the lives of their wards to help them achieve the purpose of the Creator.
Chairman of the day, Pastor (Dr. )Ayo Badmus blessed the children and their parents and prayed for God’s guidance as they progress in their educational pursuits.
The highlights of the event are cultural dance, special presentations by the kindergartens, drama, choreography, debate and award presentations to deserving pupils and students.
