A man was arrested on Friday by South Korean police suspected of stabbing a high school teacher with a knife.
The incident which happened in the city of Daejeon, is the country’s second random knife attack in two days.
Officials at the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency did not immediately release the personal details of the suspect, describing him only as a man in his late 20s.
The Police said the suspect waited for the teacher to step out of a classroom at Songchon High School before stabbing him and fleeing the scene.
Officials suggest both the victim and the assailant were acquaintances.
Police and fire department authorities did not specify the teacher’s health condition.
The assault follows a separate incident the previous day when a man rammed a car onto a sidewalk and stabbed multiple pedestrians.
The attacker injured 14 people near a busy subway station in Seongnam, at the heart of a bustling leisure and business district.
At least two were hospitalized in critical condition among the five people who were hurt by the car.
Eight among the nine people who were stabbed were being treated for serious injuries, officials said.
