A screening exercise to appoint Principals and Vice Principals of secondary schools to the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM has begun for qualified senior teachers in schools across the state.
The two-day screening exercise held at the Baptist Boys High School (BBHS) Saje, Abeokuta includes a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and oral interviews for 141 principals and 124 vice principals from secondary schools in the state.
Speaking during the Exercise, Chairman TESCOM, Evang Olalekan Ifede congratulated participants for being enlisted for the screening charging them to portray exemplary leadership for other teachers and students alike.
“As a commission, the process that got us here was clean and devoid of fear or favour. I therefore say that teachers here must demonstrate capacity and competence while in office for the advancement of education in respective schools and the state as a whole.
It is equally imperative for participants to be disciplined and be exemplary, worthy of emulation to other teachers and the students at all times”, he said.
Earlier, Commissioner IV in the commission, Hon.Adeleye Ademola said the CBT was designed to test the participants’ proficiency in computer use.
Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Dr. Waheed Lanloye while highlighting the importance of CBT said that there was a need for teachers to be IT compliant particularly in the 21st century, adding that proficiency in IT promotes efficiency in school management and administration.
In their remarks, Mr. Wasiu Tiamiyu from Ogijo Community High School and Mrs.Esther Alomaja of Olumo High School, Sabo, Abeokuta appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for approving their promotions, as well as the elevation of senior teachers into management posts, adding that they will not be found wanting as far as duty was concerned.
