The Imo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Rachel Idaewor has declared that the high level of discipline and commitment exhibited by the 2023 Batch B (Stream ll) Corps members during the Orientation course attested to their eagerness for patriotic service to their fatherland.
In her address at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch B (Stream ll) orientation course at Eziama Obaire Camp in Imo State, Idaewor stated that the Corps members having been thoroughly groomed in line with the ideals of the Scheme, are adequately equipped for effective discharge of their Primary Assignments.
“As good ambassadors of the Scheme, I encourage you all to continue in the path of discipline to achieve the mandate of National Service,” the SC said.
She further maintained that their zeal to integrate and immensely contribute to the development of their host communities is an indication of their readiness to serve.
Based on these, she encouraged the Corps members to embark on Community Development Service (CDS) projects that would solve the felt needs of their host communities and foster development in the state.
Speaking further, she encouraged them to continue with the post-camp Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training to consolidate the gains of the in-camp training to ensure financial independence.
“This is the age of Entrepreneurship and Wealth creation,” the SC declared.
To ensure a fruitful service year, the Coordinator urged them to be guided by the rules of National Service, adhering strictly to the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Laws.
The Corps members were further assured of their safety during the service year as their welfare remained a priority to the Management.
However, they were advised to be security conscious and avoid engaging in social vices that would tarnish the good image of the Scheme that they represent.
The State Coordinator while declaring the Orientation course closed, expressed her profound appreciation to the Imo State Government and the major stakeholders for creating an enabling environment for the Corps members to serve in the State.
