The House of Representatives spokesperson, Akin Rotimi, has condemned the brutal murder of a student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Módúpé Atanda.
This is contained in a statement issued by Rotimi, on Thursday in Abuja, where he demanded a thorough investigation into the murder with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Atanda, a 200 level student of the institution had gone to study in the evening of Sept. 4, but was later declared missing.
Authorities of the institution reported that the missing student was subsequently found dead in a shallow grave on the campus on Sept. 6
The lawmaker, who represents, Ekiti North 1, Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency, called on the government of Ekiti, relevant security agencies, and stakeholders in the community to collaborate to fish out the culprits and bring them to book.
“We owe it to the memory of late Atanda, to ensure our students, and indeed all residents in our communities are safe and secure as they go about their legitimate activities,” Rotimi said.
