Alhaji Ahijo Yahaya, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the Director of North East Area Office Tuesday implored Corps employers in Taraba State to relate and offer the same work conditions accorded their staff to the Corps Members serving in their establishment and organizations.

This move, he stressed would further promote a good and efficient working setting geared towards promoting productivity in the affected organization as well as deepen corps members’ welfare and security in the state.

Alhaji Ahijo, represented by Mr. Chapman Ewetaram, a Deputy Director in the Area Office, spoke as he declared open the 2023 Corps Employers Workshop held at Taraba State University Jalingo.

The Corps Employers Workshop is an annual event that provides a platform for the corps employers, corps members, members of staff, and other stakeholders to rub minds, discuss, and share ideas on the best ways to promote and sustain corps welfare and security.

The workshop was held simultaneously at Jalingo, Bali, Zinc, and Wukari NYSC Zonal offices respectively.

Earlier, the Taraba State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Anthony Nzoka expressed profound appreciation to the representative of the Commissioner for Education, the Corps Employers, the Corps Members, and other stakeholders for making it to the event.

Borrowing a leaf from the theme of the workshop, “Deepening Corps Employers’ Participation Towards Improved Welfare and Security of Corps Members”, he tasked the corps employers to mentor as well as provide guidance and effective leadership while relating with the corps members serving in their organizations.

Speaking further, he urged the corps members and the members of staff to maintain a greater measure of discipline, responsibility, dedication, and perseverance while discharging their duties to the good people of the state.

He lauded the Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas for approving a new welfare package for the corps members in the state.

Lectures delivered at the workshop include the “Role of Stakeholders in Corps Administration, Rejection, Underutilization and Evasion of Service ” and “The Corps Employers, a veritable partner for effective service delivery.

These thought-provoking lectures increasingly helped to drive home the urgent need for all NYSC’s stakeholders to promote and sustain corps welfare and security in the state.
