As the global student organisations prepare for the observance of the 2023 International Students Day, Ondo State is planning big to play host to student bodies across the state.

November 17th of every year is set aside to celebrate Students all over the world and to make them feel loved, cherished and supported.

The date marks the anniversary of the 1939 Nazi storming of the University of Prague. After the demonstrations took place on November 17, 1939, nine students and professors were murdered, and over 1,200 were sent to concentration camps. Within two years from that date, many efforts were made to establish November 17 as a day of commemoration and resistance against the Nazis also among students of other nations.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Ilesanmi Ademola, in a statement made available to newsmen stated that the Ondo State government has graciously agreed to play host to all student structures across the “Sunshine State” to mark the day.

The release stated that the event would be held on 17th November 2023 at The Some in Akure beginning from 9 in the morning.

According to the statement, “The programme is targeted at giving back to the Students’ community, and it’s therefore not an event that can be missed.”

The event will feature entrepreneurship and talent exhibitions, student empowerment, a quiz and debate contest, a Spelling bee competition and a panelist session.
