NUC Team Lead Acknowledges LASU’s Steady Rise

Lagos State University (LASU) has been reaffirmed as a World world-class university that is not only blessed, but, truly great as well.

This was the submission of the Team Lead, National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Timothy Namo, on Tuesday, 31 October 2023, at the exit meeting of the Department of Botany accreditation exercise.

The meeting took place at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, 6th Floor, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

Prof. Namo and his team were on hand to brief the Vice Chancellor and Management of their observations during the exercise.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Namo said he was quite impressed with what they saw, describing LASU as a blessed university that is truly great.

“We have gone round the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, and we are quite impressed with what we saw. This university is blessed and truly great.

“We thank the Vice Chancellor, the Management for the warm reception, since our arrival, “Prof. Namo stated as he concluded his brief remarks.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adenike Boyo, who held brief for the Vice Chancellor in her response, told the team that the management was confident the NUC would give the department the accreditation, having prepared well for the exercise.

She gave her words that management would work on one or two areas, based on the team’s observations. She thanked the team for the exercise.

The representative of the Registrar, Deputy Registrar, Academic Staff Establishment, Mr. Samuel Otesanya, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Management and Department of Botany gave the vote of thanks as the exit meeting ended.

Other principal officers at the meeting are the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Funsho Omobitan, the Bursar, Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka and the representative of the University Librarian, Dr. Omawumi Makinde.

The Head of Campus, Epe/Director, Quality Assurance, Prof. Rafiu Okuneye, the Deputy Registrar (VCO), Dr. Lateef Shekoni, DR/Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Lateef Salami and Director, Academic Planning, Dr. Morenikeji Olanrewaju-John were in attendance.

Others at the meeting include a representative of the Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. Tunde Idowu, Dr. Omoteso Oluwa, Dr. Abosede Adu, Head, Botany, Dr. Tolu Ewekeye and the duo of Dr. Adewape and Mrs. Balogun, NUC.
