254 Bag Distinction As Yabatech Sets To Graduate 7,717 At 35th Convocation

The Yaba College of Technology, (Yabatech), Lagos will, at its 35th Convocation graduate 7, 717.

A breakdown of the figure showed 254 of the lots were in the Distinction grade.

A total of 1, 893 will be graduating with Upper Credit, 3, 940 made Lower Credit and 1,630 made Pass Grades.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul said the convocation ceremonies will involve award of Diplomas, Certificates and Prizes to the graduating students of the 2021/2022 academic session.

He added that the Fellowship of the College will be conferred on three eminent and truly deserving Nigerians as part of the ceremonies.

Giving the highlights of the ceremonies, Dr Abdul said the convocation lecture will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 11 am with the topic; Empowering Nigerian Youths in the Present Day Economy, to be delivered by the Chief of Staff to the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Rt Hon. Olufemi Gbajabiamila is expected to be chaired by the Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The convocation ceremony is slated for Thursday, November 23, 2023, while the distinguished guest of honour is the Honourable Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman.

“Furthermore, the College will be conferring fellowship awards on three outstanding Nigerians at the ceremony, Lady Christine Doja Otedola, Comrade Hassan Adebayo Sunmonu and His Excellency Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum.”

He explained further that the fellowship awards on esteemed and exemplary Nigerians who have contributed immensely to national development, education and other sectors including those who distinguish themselves in their areas of endeavours are in line with the tradition and mandate of the polytechnic education.

“The justification for the conferment of the prestigious fellowship awards on these revered Nigerians centres on their respective accomplishments within and outside the country,” he added.
