The bursary award and 11 buses for NANS JCC Ondo State, National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) and other institutions in the state were approved as the government hosted the 2023 International Students Day celebration.
In a statement to appreciate the state government’s kind gesture, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, NANS Vice President, External Affairs, NHQ thanked the Ondo State government for the successful celebration of the 2023 International Students’ Day.
The statement reads in parts, “With elation, I extend our sincere appreciation to the Ondo State Government for the successful celebration of 2023 International Students’ Day and the approval of 11 buses for NANS JCC Ondo State, NAOSS and the institutions in the state.
“The commemoration of this year’s International Students’ Day in Ondo State was a testament to the government’s commitment to the significance of students and their contributions to society. The well-coordinated events provided a platform for students to celebrate their diversity, share experiences, and foster a sense of unity and belonging.
“Therefore, it is pertinent that we commend the Ondo State Government for organizing an event that not only recognized the importance of education but also celebrated the vibrant student community in the state. No doubt, it was the largest gathering of students in the Sunshine State and will be remembered for years to come.
“Furthermore, we express our deepest gratitude for the approval of 11 buses dedicated to serving the transportation needs of students across the nine institutions in Ondo State. This initiative is a game-changer that will address a critical aspect of students’ lives and enhance their accessibility to educational opportunities and easy mobility.
“Subsequently, the allocation of one bus each for NANS and NAOSS further demonstrates the government’s understanding of the unique challenges faced by student bodies,” the statement added.
NANS appreciated the approval of the student bursary as part of the government’s support and commitment to the advancement of the education sector, saying it was a demonstration of the government’s sensitivity to the financial challenges and undue constraints faced by students.
The association pledged continued partnership and collaboration for a positive educational experience for students in Ondo State.
