A Japanese Company, Kawasho Foods and Jfe-Shoji Corporations have donated 320 sets of Desks and 11,000 exercise books, among others, to some Public Primary Schools in Ogun State.
The items, which included 150 cartons of Geisha products, were presented at the premises of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta, to School for Children with Special Needs, Makun, Sagamu, Lisabi Primary School, II, Ijoko, Emmanuel African Church Primary School, Ifo, Olorunkole Junior Grammar School, Kajola, St. Augustine RCM School II, Imeko.
Others were Yewa South Local Government Primary School I, Oke-Ola, Ilaro, Yewa North Local Government Primary School, Saala, Ayetoro, St. Peter’s Ang. Primary School, Oke-Olowu, Moslem Primary School, Imosan, Owu Ikija Community Junior Grammar School, Owu Ikija Ijemo.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the state government, the Executive Chairman, SUBEB, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, appreciated the company for donating the items, saying the gesture would make learning more convenient for the pupils and encourage them to improve their academic performances.
Dr. Majekodunmi called on individuals and organisations to support the State government in the provision of necessary interventions in the education sector.
He said, “The donated items will improve learners’ sitting posture and convenience, and academic performance, as well as aid their physical development and promote healthy living’’.
The SUBEB boss expressed gratitude to Kawasho Foods Trade and Jfe-Shoji Corporations, commending its dedication to the well-being and comfort of school children, and encouraged the company to continue their philanthropic efforts.
Responding, the Desk Officer in charge of the programme, Princess Tolani Awolesi, lauded the good gesture by corporations, saying that it would enhance the standard of education at the basic level.
Speaking, the representative of Kawasho Foods Corporation in Africa, Mr. Murata Kotaro applauded the efforts of the state government on pupil’s well-being, assuring that the company would not relent in its Corporate Social Responsibility drive to schools.
Responding on behalf of other schools, Ogunmefu Gbenga from Owu Ikija Community Junior Grammar School, Owu Ikija Ijenu said the facilities and materials provided by the corporation would be used judiciously.
Highlights of the event were the presentation of the education materials to the beneficiaries, cultural display and choreography by learners from the various schools.
