The National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) Ogun State Secretariat has added another feather to its cap just as it has been adjudged the best Secretariat in the whole of South West after a painstaking assessment by Management of the NYSC South West Area Office.
Speaking at the colorful event which was held at the Southwest Area Office in Osogbo the Osun State capital, the acting Director, in charge of the Area Office, Mrs. Olubukola Oluwaremilekun Abiodun said the South West zone is the first among the Area Offices nationwide to organize such a programme.
Mrs. Abiodun hope that the award will spur service delivery by promoting healthy competition among the different Secretariats in the Zone.
“The award will be conferred annually on the secretariat that performs outstandingly in terms of administration, operations and implementation of the four cardinal programmes, including evidence of robust collaboration with stakeholders” she noted.
The Zonal Office boss said the sustainability of the NYSC programme is its ability to align to ever changing dynamics in youth development and at the very core of this are the officers of the Scheme from policy design to implementation with it’s core mandate to prepare the Nigerian youth for higher callings.
She charged the State Secretariats who are beneficiaries of the initiative not to see the project as a rivalry but rather as an opportunity to make necessary improvement or adjustments as the case maybe.
The NYSC Ogun State Coordinator, Mrs. Nasamu Olayinka Diana who won the award for the best Secretariat in South West Zone appreciated the acting Director and the entire South West Area Office for recognizing the contributions of Ogun State Secretariat toward the objectives of the Scheme.
Ondo, Osun, Lagos, Ekiti and Oyo Secretariats came 2nd.3rd,4th,5th and 6th positions respectively.
Recall that just few weeks ago, the NYSC Ogun State Coordinator was given commendation letter for excellent performance by the NYSC Director General.
