IITA To Train, Empower Youths On Agribusiness Skills

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is set to train Nigerian youths on entrepreneur and agribusiness skills.

The training, according to the IITA seeks to provide youths between the ages of 18 and 35 with the required entrepreneurial skills to expand existing agribusinesses enterprise for (accelerators) or venture into agribusiness (incubators).

According to a statement released by the organizers, the partnership through the initiative-Youth in Agribusiness (YAS): Enabling scaling of innovative technologies for sustainable food solutions (YAS) project will provide technical and business trainings for the participants.

Similarly, the programme will cover Oyo, Ogun, Kano and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Agro Climate News gathered that the programme will provide theoretical and practical trainings on the value chains of: Yam farming, Poultry, Cassava farming, Maize farming, Soybean farming, Horticulture, Groundnut farming and Aquaculture.

“In addition, participants will receive guidance on business development and linkage to finance and markets.
