Educational Cash Awards Will Ameliorate Economic Challenges On Learners’ – Arigbabu

Ogun State Educational Cash Award For Student Help (Ogun EduCASH), as announced by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is an intervention programme for learners in all public primary and secondary schools, as well as public and private tertiary institutions across Nigeria, to cushion the effects of economic challenges on learners and their parents.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu stated this in Abeokuta, during the visit of the Provost and some management staff of Federal College of Education, Osiele, saying N50,000 would be paid to about 60,000 students of Ogun State Origin, in all tertiary institutions of learning in the country.

Prof. Arigbabu explained that all tertiary institutions in Nigeria were duly informed on modalities to collate and forward the names of students of Ogun State origin in their respective schools to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, as individual entries would not be accepted.

He said cash would be paid directly into the learners’ account, urging them to visit their respective Students’ Affairs Office to register, using their Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and their Matriculation numbers.

Prof. Arigbabu said, “Any individual account that does not belong directly to the name of a submitted student or that does not bear the same name of a student, as submitted by the higher institution will not be credited’’.

According to the Commissioner, the government had targeted 10,000 indigent students in public primary and secondary schools in the three Senatorial Districts in the state to get N10,000, saying it was part of the present administration’s commitment towards ameliorating the current economic condition being experienced by the people.

Speaking, the Provost, Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, Dr. Abdulrafiu Soyele, said their visit was to appreciate the government for its efforts towards repositioning the education system in the state and invite the Commissioner to their forthcoming Convocation.

Meanwhile, the Students Union Government of the College of Nursing, Abeokuta, led by their President, Comrade Opeyemi Otasanya, paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Arigbabu, where the Commissioner reiterated the government’s passion for the welfare of learners at all levels of education.
