On the occasion of the recently celebrated International Children’s Day, the District Governor Of Lions Club District 404-B2 Ni
geria, Prof Emmanuel Fagbohun, has called on the Ministries Of Women Affairs and Social
Welfare to look into the affairs of special kids with disabilities in the society.
Fagbohun who made the declaration during the visit of the Lions Club District 404-B2
visit to Sango Junior Secondary School (Inclusive), Agege on Children Day, pointed out that by so doing, the government will be ridding the society of street beggars and saving the entire nation a lot of mishap.
“There are quite a lot of them begging on the streets. But once they are in inclusive schools like this, they learn a trade and are being empowered, they won’t be
a burden on anyone, they would be off the streets and they would live a fruitful, productive life.
While addressing participants at the event, Scholastica Onyeriri, chairperson, Lion
Service for Children 2023/2024, stated that every child deserves a chance to thrive, dream and be loved. And that in the eyes of
every child, lies the potential for a better future, a future where each day is filled with learning, laughter and the joy ofdiscovery.
“And it is up to us, not just as Lions but as citizens, as neighbors, and as friends, to nurture that potential.
For the impact we have on these children will echo through the ages.
“Let’s take a moment to look around, to see the faces of these young ones, their smiles, their hopes, their boundless curiosity.
It reminds us that our work is not just about serviceit’s about shaping the world in which they will lead.”
Ngozi Nkoloenyi, president Ikeja Viva L’Amour Lions Club corrected that they should be referred to as anything other
than Blessed Kids as there was no difference between them and every other person therein
present.
On behalfofthe permanent secretary (Adebowale Bashiru) and the Department Of Counselling Education, District 1, Agege,
Olubukola Rosanwo thanked the club for making the students of Sango Junior High Inclusive, feel really inclusive.
“Others are there celebrating and having good times with children, but District 404-B2 Lions Club chose these specially bless
ed children, and made them to really feel inclusive. We are very grateful.”
Mooruf Okunola, the principal of the school has this to say: “I stand before you to acknowledge a remarkable act of kindness by one of the esteemed Lions International clubs, District 404-B2 Nigeria.
“They have shown heart warming example of generosity and empathy by promoting our
special students.
“This is not just about the financial support they render but about the special inclusion, compassion and community
spirit that their activity carries.
They have proven that they truly understand the essence of Children’s Day.”
