The Federation of Ekiti State Students Union (FESSU) has proposed to inaugurate a strategic collaboration with the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development to launch the “Tourism Not Cultism” initiative.
This landmark partnership was initiated during a recent visit by FESSU President ,Comrade Benjamin Onileowo and Executive members to the Bureau of Tourism Development, Governor’s Office Ado Ekiti
During the visit, FESSU President commended the Director General of the Bureau of Tourism, Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre, for his dedication to promoting the tourism vision of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The President praised the efforts of Barrister Ojo-Lanre and his team in enhancing the visibility and attractiveness of Ekiti State’s rich cultural , tourism and natural heritage.
The highlight of the visit was the proposal to unveil the “Tourism Not Cultism” project, a significant initiative aimed at encouraging students to engage in tourism activities as a positive alternative to cultism.
This initiative seeks to harness the potential of tourism to foster unity, education, and economic development among the youth.
In his address, the FESSU President promised to mobilize members of the union to participate actively in tours of various tourism sites across Ekiti State.
He emphasized that this engagement would not only promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the state’s tourism assets but also provide students with constructive and enriching experiences.
Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre, in his response, expressed his unwavering support for the initiative.
He highlighted the numerous opportunities within the tourism sector that students can tap into, ranging from educational tours and internships to entrepreneurial ventures.
He assured that the Bureau of Tourism would provide all necessary support to ensure the success of the “Tourism Not Cultism” project.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards promoting tourism as a viable and rewarding activity for the youth, steering them away from negative influences and towards constructive engagement with their heritage and environment.
