The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, within the week, received some members of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON), ahead of a professional accreditation of programmes in the University’s Department of Estate Management.

She welcomed and assured the guests of the University’s commitment to collaborate with industry in co-creating curricular and experience-based training to produce fit-for-purpose and industry-ready graduates.

Pointing out that it is becoming clear that knowledge imparted within the university is no longer the only viable kind of knowledge, Professor Ogunsola shared UNILAG’s vision and drive to produce graduates who are reasonably curious and have mastered critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills in approaching challenges encountered along their way.

The Vice-Chancellor informed the guests of the University’s establishment of an Office of Career Development Services (OCDS), charged with the mantle to bridge the gap between industry and UNILAG students. She noted that this Office has successfully organised several career conversations that has helped students understand what obtains in the real world.

She welcomed the accreditation team to share constructive criticisms after their review of the programmes for necessary action.

Members of the accreditation team were the Registrar, ESVARBON; ESV Janet Shehu as well as the Chairperson and members of ESVARBON’s Education Committee: ESV Dr Uche Egwuatu; Professor Timothy Oladokun and ESV ’Dotun Bamigbola
