The Executive Chairman, Mojec International Limited, Mrs Mojisola Alirat Abdul, has pleaded succour for people living with disabilities as she pledged to donate a fully-equipped world-class resource centre to the Lagos State University (LASU).
The proposed infrastructure when completed will give people living with disability in Lagos State University enjoy an improved working and learning experience in the university.
This assurance was given when Mrs Abdul, who chairs one of the largest indigenous companies in Nigeria with subsidiaries in the power, energy, real estate and retail sector with operations across Africa and Asia, visited the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, at the weekend where she pledged to donate a fully-equipped world-class resource centre.
She said the donation is fuelled by her passion for the welfare of people with disabilities.
She also revealed that every year, ten physically challenged students would enjoy a study scholarship funded by her foundation.
The Vice Chancellor, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Adenike Boyo received Mrs Abdul and her team at her office on the 6th Floor of Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building.
She lauded the entrepreneur for her selflessness and concern for people with disabilities and assured that being at the forefront of promoting the interest of people with disability, which informed the creation of a Disability Support Office, LASU is the right place to locate the resource centre.
She further assured that all the necessary support would be provided by the university to ensure that the project is started and completed in record time.
Mrs Bukola Afolami-Arojojoye, whose office, Lagos State University Disability Support Office (LASUDSO), facilitated the meeting lauded the kind gesture of Mrs Abdul for the donation, saying the gesture would go a long way in improving the lots of students living with disability.
The project is expected to commence later in the year following the allocation of land by the university.
Senior officials of the Vice Chancellor’s Office and the Disability Support Office were also at the meeting.
