In a bid to ensure efficient service delivery, the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA), under the auspices of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, has trained officers in the built industry.
Commissioner in the Ministry, TPl. Olatunji Odunlami, who also served as a resource person for the 2-day training on the “Extant Law and Regulations” at the Oba’s Complex, State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, for officers in the Ministry and the three agencies, Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA), Ogun State Building Production Management Authority (OGBPMA) and Ogun State Slum Regeneration Authority (OGSRA).
TPL. Odunlami said activities of the Ministry and its agencies were guided by the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development (OGURPD) Law 2022 and the five Regulations, emphasising the need for all staff to be conversant with every aspect of their job, to equip them in the implementation of government’s policies and programmes, towards improving physical development of the State.
“Since our activities are guided by law, we found it essential for officers to be kept abreast of happenings around them as guided by the regulations, so that they will not run afoul of the law, because the law is binding on both the makers of the law, and those that will obey it,” the Commissioner stressed.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Engr. Sakirudeen Salam, noted that the training was important to build the capacity of officers for public interactions on legal matters to reduce incidences of litigations, man-handling of staff and other occurrences.
Contributing, the Acting General Manager, OGPDPA, TPl. Itunuoluwa Jolaoluwa, said the review of the implementation of the law and regulations by the Ministry and its agencies necessitated the training, charging the participants to make use of what they were taught so as to perform effectively well at their various duty posts.
Speaking on behalf of other participants, TPl. Taiwo Adeoye, appreciated the management for the training, saying the knowledge gained would deepen their understanding of different job specifications.
