Impressed by the unprecedented achievements recorded by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) under the leadership of its indefatigable Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Deputy Senate President (DSP), Distinguished Senator Barau Jibrin, has vowed to personally sponsor the nomination of Prof. Oloyede for a higher national honour.

The DSP who was the Special Guest of Honour at the 4th National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards (NATAP-M) underscored the need to honour the Registrar for his selfless service to humanity and the education sector in general.

According to Jambulletin, the Distinguished Senator Jubrin, while pledging his undying support for the Board and the Registrar, urged other agencies of government to emulate JAMB in delivering quality service to the nation.

He said, “We are impressed with what the JAMB Registrar is doing. I would personally sponsor the nomination of the Registrar for a higher national honour as an award for his service to the nation.

“I wish to use this opportunity to commend the Registrar, management and staff of the Board for initiating the award to honour and encourage best practices and improve productivity, as well as recognise individuals and institutions, that have demonstrated exceptional performance in the admission value chain, is truly commendable” Continuing, the Parliamentarian said, “Your commitment to maintaining high standards and promoting meritocracy in education deserve our highest commendation and to us, in the National Assembly, is a sign of respect for the rule of law in our society.

“This way, we believe if other agencies of government follow in your footsteps, Nigeria would be the land of our dreams as envisaged by our founding fathers.”

According to the high-ranking Senator, “In the course of the four and half decade of its existence JAMB, as a prime player in the admission of candidates into tertiary institutions in Nigeria, has dominated the national discourse on account of its fairness, integrity and excellence in the admission process.”

Furthermore, he stated that the journey of the Board in the last few years has been marked by an unwavering commitment to transparency and innovation, adding that the Board has continuously adopted cutting-edge technology and methodology to streamline the admission process, combat malpractices and uphold the principles of meritocracy.

This, he said, has not only enhanced the quality of intakes into tertiary institutions but has also opened doors of opportunities for countless students across the nation and other parts of the world.

“I am aware that the foreign component of the UTME took place a few days ago, this is an endorsement of the Board’s processes across borders,” he said.
