A Public Relations guru, Mr. Akin Okudero has charged the graduating students of Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State to demonstrate a high degree of determination by creating opportunities to succeed in their chosen careers in life
Okudero, a Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Managing Director of PR Primus Limited gave the charge on Monday while delivering the Induction Orientation Lecture organized for 93 graduating students being inducted into PR practice by the institute from the Mass Communication Department of the Nigeria’s foremost private university
The former Chairman of Ogun State chapter of NIPR who lauded the Young Professional Hub initiative of the institute’s president ,Dr.Ike Neliaku, encouraged the graduating students to always apply PR techniques to achieve their personal’s goals and objectives in life
Public Relations according to him, is bedrock for peace, growth and development in individuals, groups, societies, organizations and nations at large
“I, therefore charge you with the admonition that “success in your professional and personal life is frequently the product of determination, had work and inspiration.”In public relations, we don’t rely on opportunities to happen. We create them”, he stated
The Producer of foremost PR television programme on OGTV “Your Image’s, then offered some tips to the students that will translate to ensuring a successful career in future which include being creative to come up with innovations to enable them adapt to the changing environment and strategies
Okudero urged them to develop technical capacity to proffer creative solutions to businesses and the society through critical thinking and scenario building
He stressed the need for them to be versatile by combining both knowledge and skills in various disciplines to be relevant in the scheme of things
The PR expert encouraged them to be interested in gaining knowledge , experience, and expertise in an established entity adding they should strive to learn to collaborate, network, and partner with like minds to achieve success in their respective careers.
Okudero who was honoured by NIPR with Award of Excellence In Service, said their ability to scan the environment would enable them to meet the desires and needs of the people, corporate entities, and groups, amongst others.
He emphasized the need for them to be tolerant,patient , adventurous and social media compliant to achieve their career goals in the industry
“Never relinquish your core duties of news writing, anchoring and other competencies for other professionals. Be a leader”, he tasked them.
