As Babcock University held its 13th hooding ceremony, marking a significant milestone for 160 doctoral graduates, President/Vice Chancellor Prof. Ademola Tayo challenged them to use their knowledge to positively impact society.
“Your certificate is valuable only to the extent that you apply your knowledge to bring about meaningful change,” he emphasized.
“Teamwork is essential to making a lasting impact in your profession,” he said.The ceremony, held at the University’s Amphitheatre, highlighted Nigeria’s growing focus on Information Resources Management, with the Department producing the highest number of doctoral graduates (23).
Accounting followed with 21 graduates, while Business Administration and Economics had 18 and 15 graduates, respectively.Prof. Tayo congratulated the graduates on their achievement, urging them to continue learning and researching.
“Earning a PhD is not the end of your academic journey; it’s the beginning of a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and discovery.
“You have the potential to be game-changers in your fields.”
Senior vice President Academics, Prof. Philemon Amanze and Associate Vice President Prof. Constance C. Nwosu also encouraged the graduates to uphold the honour symbolized by their academic robes, sharing the purpose, history and significance of the hooding ceremony.
In her reflection on the graduates’ academic journey, the Vice President of the postgraduate Coral Graduating Class, Dr. Chidinnma Abaribe recalled, “Our journey was marked by challenges, setbacks, and self-doubt, but also by growth, discovery, and triumphs.
“We’ve been transformed by our experiences, and we’re ready to make a positive impact.”
The University’s pro-chancellor, Pastor (Dr.) Istifanus Ishaya and other members of the Babcock community, relatives and friends were present at the event.
