The Lagos State Secretariat of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), on Sunday, denied and dismissed as untrue alleged refusal to register 2024 Batch B Stream 2 Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) graduates deployed to the state for the three-weeks orientation programme over failure to produce professional licences.
Recall that the Executive Secretary of the National Board NBTE, Prof. Idris Bugaje, had in response to a spurious video and claims wrote a letter titled: “Refusal to register students of HND Science Laboratory Technology programme at NYSC orientation camps”, dated August 28, over alleged NYSC of taking a directive from a mere professional body rather than a constituted board.
The Lagos State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa made the clarifications at the Agege Orientation camp ground where she dismissed the claims as untrue in Lagos orientation camp.
She disclosed and verified that all the 22 Science Laboratory Technologists graduates mobilised for the Batch and deployed to Lagos State were duly documented and registered alongside their colleagues from other corps members producing institutions at the Orientation Camp on arrival.
Baderinwa who engaged newsmen with evidence of documentation and records, said no SLT graduate was denied or barred from registration.
She said, “All the 22, males and females, graduates of SLT from all the diverse institutions were duly registered for the orientation programme.
Some of the corps members, who are graduates of SLT programme from various institutions confirmed that they were not denied registration or asked to present any licence from any professional body as condition for access into the camp and registration for orientation programme.
Baderinwa added that all documented and registered corps members went through the seamless registration processes.
She disclosed that a total of
4,743 prospective corps members were deployed to the state, saying the Batch comprises 22 SLT graduates with 12 accommodated at the Agege Orientation camp ground while others alongside many were dislodged to Ogun, Osun and Oyo states for the orientation programme due to lack of space.
Baderinwa added, “In Osun, we have 879 corps member. In Ogun, we have 581 and in Oyo, 238. All the requirements for mobilisation for the national service year itemised for all read on the NYSC portal. All SLT graduates and others from various institutions went through a seamless registration process and duly documented.”
