Dufil Prima Foods has provided educational support for visually impaired students of Aperin Oniyere Grammar School in Ibadan, Oyo State with assistive devices, demonstrating its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and commitment to promoting inclusive opportunities for the visually impaired and people with special needs.
The devices which were presented by the Group Corporate Communications and Event Manager of Dufil Prima Foods, Temitope Ashiwaju to the school’s management in Ibadan, were received by the principal of the school, Olusegun Oregbesan in the company of the Chairman, Nigeria Association of the Blind, Oyo state chapter, Olufemi Ojeniyi, the vice principal, and other senior staff of the school.
Assistive devices donated include Braille machines, typewriters, digital recorders, mobility canes and essential tools that will enhance the learning experience of visually impaired students.
In addition, Dufil Prima Foods took on the responsibility of paying WAEC fees for SS3 students, ensuring that financial constraints do not obstruct their educational aspirations.
Commenting on the initiative, Ashiwaju highlighted the challenges faced by visually impaired students in accessing quality education.
“We recognise the unique obstacles these students encounter, including limited resources and specialized tools. This has motivated us to extend our support,” he said.
“This effort is part of our broader CSR strategy, which has seen us carry out similar initiatives across the country, including at the Pacelli School of the Blind. We also participated in the annual World Cane Day celebration.”
Ashiwaju added, “Our approach is twofold; we offer scholarships to students and provide equipment to schools to foster an inclusive learning environment. As a socially responsible company, we understand that government alone cannot meet all these needs, so we’re stepping in to support in any way we can.”
He further emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering an equitable educational environment for all students, especially those with challenges.
“These assistive devices will help create a more inclusive, independent, and equitable learning environment for visually impaired students, giving them the opportunity to thrive.”
The principal of the school, Olusegun Oregbesan, expressed deep appreciation for the generous gesture.
“It is encouraging to see a company like Dufil Prima Foods thinking of our students’ needs without us even asking. Your thoughtfulness has given us renewed energy to do more for these children.”
Similarly, Olufemi Ojeniyi lauded the initiative, acknowledging the significant impact the donation will have.
“We are grateful to Indomie for remembering persons living with disabilities, especially during these challenging economic times. Your intervention is a beacon of hope for many.”
Following the presentation, Dufil Prima Foods delighted students, staff, and the surrounding community by serving freshly prepared noodles from its famous Indomie mobile kitchen, creating a memorable and uplifting experience for all in attendance.
