As the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the impending release of the results of the recently conducted 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination resit examination, the Board revealed that an expert in Psychometrics had been engaged to analyse and endorse the outcome of the test before the final release.
The expert is Professor Boniface Nworgu. He currently works at the Department of Science Education, University of Nigeria.
He is a Professor of Physics Education, Measurement & Evaluation. Boniface does research in Educational assessment and evaluation, Psychometrics, and Science (Physics) Education.
Recall that the Board settled for a resit examination for candidates at centres impacted by the unfortunate incident in Lagos and the Southeast states.
Fabian Benjamin, the Public Communication Advisor of JAMB, in a statement, disclosed that out of the 336,845 candidates who were scheduled for the resit examination, 21,082 were absent.
In the updated analysis of the 2025 UTME examination, the preliminary report of 1,931,467 candidates showed that a total of 1,365,479 candidates, representing 70.7 per cent scored below 200 marks.
A total of 565,988 candidates scored 200 above, representing 29.3 per cent, while 6.08 per cent, representing 117,373 candidates, scored 250 above.
Among the top scorers are 17 025 candidates, representing 0.88 per cent, crossed the threshold of 300 marks and above.
Recall that the initial release of the 2025 UTME results generated a wide public outcry following a technical error.
