Nigeria has officially fixed the minimum entry age into the nation’s tertiary institutions at 16 years.
This directive was announced by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, on Tuesday while declaring open the Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja.
Dr. Alausa emphasised that any admission process outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) will be deemed illegal, and those involved, whether institutions or individuals, will face strict prosecution.
He further warned that heads of institutions found complicit in admission fraud or circumventing the CAPS platform would be held accountable and prosecuted by the law.
