Chinese Foundation To Award Scholarships To LASU Students, Lauds University’s Excellence

    Twenty-two outstanding undergraduates of Lagos State University are set to receive one million naira (₦1,000,000) each after impressing the delegation from Yingke Africa (Nigeria) Consultancy Limited.

    Yingke Africa (Nigeria) Consultancy Limited, is the facilitators of the Centennial Spring Seedlings Programme (CSSP), sponsored by a Chinese foundation for exceptional students.

    The four-member interview panel, comprising three representatives of Yingke Africa and the Acting Dean of the Student Affairs Division, Dr Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, conducted the final stage of the CSSP selection process on Thursday, 17 July 2025.

    The event was held at the Council Chamber, Senate Building, LASU Main Campus, Ojo. All 22 shortlisted candidates emerged successful.

    Following the interviews, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello.

    The team commended LASU students for “Their standout academic performance and exemplary conduct” during the selection process.

    Mr Paul Ajayi, one of the representatives from Yingke Africa, praised the selected LASU students for their intelligence, honesty, and impressive performance.

    He noted that LASU is one of the few state universities chosen for the programme and expressed confidence in the students’ future potential.

    Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Adenike Boyo, welcomed the gesture, describing it as “a timely boost that aligns with LASU’s commitment to rewarding excellence and expanding global partnerships.” She also thanked the sponsor for the scholarship support.

    Each awardee will receive the ₦1 million grant once final documentation is completed in September 2025.

    The Centennial Spring Seedlings Programme aims to support high-achieving students across Africa through tuition assistance, mentorship, and internship placements in China.
