Professor Ebunoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, officially took office as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED).
Her appointment marks a significant moment for the institution, as she is both the first female and the third substantive Vice-Chancellor in UNIMED’s history.
Professor Adejuyigbe’s assumption of duty follows the recent release of a white paper by Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Visitor to the University. This document was a direct outcome of the report submitted by a Visitation Panel.
A distinguished Professor of Paediatrics, Professor Adejuyigbe brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role.
She hails from the Akoko North East local government area of Ondo State. Prior to this appointment, she held the position of Executive Director of the Central Office of Research at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where she also served as a Consultant Paediatrician at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital.
Her impressive credentials also include being a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine and a former Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences at OAU. Furthermore, Professor Adejuyigbe is the Vice-President of the African Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases and serves as Co-Chair of the National Child Health Technical Working Committee, demonstrating her commitment to advancing medical knowledge and healthcare outcomes.
Professor Adejuyigbe’s appointment was publicly announced on Friday, March 7, 2025, following a recommendation from the institution’s Governing Council to the Executive Governor of Ondo State.
