The Director of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) at the National Directorate Headquarters of the NYSC, Mr. Kehinde Aremu-Cole, has urged 2025 Batch “B” Stream I Corps Members at the Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja to embrace skill acquisition, financial literacy, and career opportunities.
The Director, while addressing the corps members, decried the nonchalant attitude of youths toward financial literacy and information that can transform their lives.
He tasked them with taking responsibility for their financial future, stressing the importance of understanding money management, business skills, and investment opportunities.
Highlighting SAED’s mission to the corps members, he revealed plans to mobilise and train 400,000 corps members in skill acquisition nationwide, with funding available to support their business ventures during their service year.
He also introduced the “Outsource to Nigeria Initiative” as an alternative for those pursuing non-entrepreneurial careers.
Mr. Aremu-Cole concluded by advising Corps Members to maximise the once-in-a-lifetime service year, remain security conscious, and avoid risky travels, assuring them of NYSC’s commitment to empowering them for sustainable success beyond the camp.
Also, reporting the camp situation to the Director, State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mrs Christiana Salmwang, reported the various interventions the State Government is carrying out in the State, for the scheme, emphasising the supportive stance of the Lagos State Government to the Scheme.
As part of the event, there were cultural presentations by the cultural troupe, Man “O” War, cheerleaders, martial arts and others.
