The Federal Government in collaboration with Ogun State Government have organised a day training on general hygiene for rural women in Yewa South Government Area of the State.
The training anchored by the lnternational Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) assisted programme at the Local Government Multi-purpose Hall, Ilaro, aimed at addressing improper waste disposal, improper water sanitation and general hygiene for the rural dwellers.
In his address, Yewa South Local Government Chairman, Barrister Abraham Ogunsola acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Government and the International Organisation for their immense contributions to the development of rural communities through Ogun State Rural Water Sanitation Agency for the facilitation of over 250 Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in the State.
The LG Boss charged the participants to deliver the knowledge learnt at the end of the training to their various communities.
In her remarks, Nutrition Officer, Values Chain Development Programme, Mrs. Adebunmi Shoremekun enjoined participants to be actively involved in the water sanitation and hygiene for women in Agriculture training in order to benefit from more programmes that would come soon.
She also emphasised on the importance of clean water sanitation hygiene which would prevent diseases in the community.
Delivering the lecture, a State Health promotion officer from Hub Health department, Mrs. Dorcas Adeaga reminded them that the training was to promote water sanitation and general hygiene practice through various Government programmes in the rural communities.
She equally highlighted the responsibilities of Water Environmental Sanitation Department which served as facilitator, supervisor and coordinator of the activities of the WASH in the communities, just as she enlightened the women on their personal hygiene and how to prevent air borne diseases in the rural communities.
