In its readiness to ensure a successful conduct of 2026 Computer Based West Africa Senior Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Ogun State Government has assured parents and prospective candidates of partnering with West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) towards providing needed facilities and supports for learners in Public Secondary Schools across the State.
Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, gave the assurance in Abeokuta during the CB-WASSCE sensitisation meeting with WAEC, Ogun State Branch, led by the Comptroller, Mr. Abayomi Suberu, affirming the State’s readiness to run educational programmes with modern technology.
Prof. Arigbabu noted that, there had been ongoing smart classrooms installations in all the flagship secondary schools and four resource centers in the State, one in each of the four regions and all would be equipped with more computer systems and other modern digital gadgets to make the new method more accessible and to familiarise candidates with them.
The Commissioner disclosed that the Ministry had been making efforts to transit from the former way of writing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for junior classes, to computer based, so that it would not be strange when they get to the stage of writing WASSCE, enjoining the examination body to get a clue from Joint Admission and Matriculation Board on the conduct of viable CBT.
Speaking, the State Comptroller of WAEC, Mr. Abayomi Suberu, affirmed that the body had carefully listened to people’s agitations, expectations and complaints about transformation to computer based examination, assuring that all necessary tools, logistics, gadgets and connectivity that would be needed to conduct a hitch-free examination would be provided adequately.
He said the body had engaged in mobilisation tour to all the Senatorial Districts of Ogun State, to sensitise the people about the transistion, saying he was already optimistic about the eventual success of the coming examination and that the students would do well.
