Nigeria has the potential to become the industrial hub of Africa if its young graduates embrace skills acquisition and technical competence, the Senior Human Resources Manager of SANY Group, Mr. Niteun Ou Yi, during the week at the flag-off of the 2025 Batch C Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) in-camp training of the NYSC Ogun State.
The visit of the global heavy machinery giant to the SAED opening ceremony was a direct result of the advocacy efforts of the Ogun State Coordinator, Mrs. Olayinka Diana Nasamu, who recently engaged the company to strengthen opportunities for Corps Members.
SANY Group disclosed that ten Corps Members currently serving in the company are undergoing intensive local engineering training and will soon travel to China for advanced technical development.
Mr. Niteun further revealed that the Corps Members receive a monthly allowance of ₦150,000 in addition to other benefits, describing the partnership as a model for talent development in Nigeria.
He also praised the NYSC scheme, noting its similarity to China’s post-graduation skill training which helped position the country as a global industrial powerhouse.
He urged Corps Members to take skills acquisition seriously, stating that Nigeria could replicate China’s success if graduates adopt a practical learning culture.
Earlier, Mrs. Nasamu declared the SAED training open while delivering the address of the Director, SAED, Mr. Kehinde Aremu.
She described the Corps Members as “prospective Corps entrepreneurs” and urged them to take the 10-day training seriously, emphasising that SAED is designed to equip Nigerian graduates with market-ready skills and entrepreneurial capacity.
She noted that Corps Members will be trained across eleven major skill areas, including ICT, agro-allied ventures, green energy, cosmetology, culinary services, construction, logistics, and the creative industries.
Nasamu encouraged them to also explore national and private-sector opportunities such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, the NNPC/Kudimata Financial Literacy Programme, and loan or grant windows provided by CrediCorp, Access Bank, Wema Bank and the Bank of Industry.
The ceremony featured an Entrepreneurship Development Programme led by Mrs. Omololu Oluwaseun of the Centre for Management Development (CMD), Lagos.
SANY Group also announced during the visit that it would soon request additional Corps Members as the cooperation with NYSC Ogun expands, commending the State Coordinator’s leadership in fostering meaningful industry partnerships.
The SAED training continues throughout the Orientation Course and will include a Business Pitching Competition, mentorship opportunities, and access to post-camp funding for outstanding Corps Members.
