The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Senate, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, held a valedictory session to celebrate Professor Adebola Olumide Akinsulie of the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Clinical Sciences as he officially bows out of active University Service on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
In her remarks, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on behalf of UNILAG Senate, staff and students, congratulated Professor Akinsulie for his illustrious service to the university, and contributions to the body of knowledge.
In response, Professor Akinsulie expressed gratitude to God, the University Senate and UNILAG community for providing an enabling environment for growth, and career fulfillment. His words, “My time is now fully devoted to God as life actually starts at seventy”.
Born on July 3, 1954, Professor Professor Akinsulie joined the services of the College of Medicine, UNILAG as Lecturer I in December 1992, and rose through the ranks to the position of Professor in October 2011. He has held several positions within the University including the Head of Paediatrics Department from 2012 to 2015.
He has authored over forty-five (45) professional publications in local and international journals. He has also supervised over eighteen (18) postgraduate resident doctors for the attainment of fellowship in Paediatrics of the National Postgraduate Medical College.
The renowned paediatrician and clinical hematologist is a member of several professional bodies including Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN), Nigeria Society of Paediatric Oncologist (NISPO) and Society of International Oncologists (SIOP). He is currently the Chairman of the Cathedral Church of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church of Christ “The Worshippers”.
Professor Adebola Olumide Akinsulie is married to Mrs. Ibironke Dolapo Akinsulie, and the union is blessed with three children and a grand-child.
