The 2024 Batch B Stream l Corps Members deployed to Imo State have been told to bring to bear the experiences gathered from the orientation course in tackling any situation or tasks they may encounter throughout the Service Year.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Imo State Coordinator, Mrs Rachel Idaewor spoke during the official closing ceremony of the Batch’s orientation course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Eziama Obaire Nkwerre LGA where she attested that resources have been invested in the Corps Members by way of intellectual and physical trainings which will enable them confidence in tackling any given situation.
Mrs Idaewor encouraged them to sustain the attitude of Discipline, Loyalty, Resourcefulness, Patriotism and Diligence so that they will have a seamless Service Year.
She also encouraged them to integrate with their host communities, learn their languages and respect their culture.
Urging the Corps Members on the task of nation-building, the Imo Coordinator advised them to settle down quickly and identify the felt needs of the people so as to strive to solve them, using the instrumentality of the Community Development Service (CDS).
Also, the Coordinator enjoined the Corps Members to consolidate on the foundation received during the In- Camp Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) trainings and vigorously pursue the Post Camp SAED trainings which will offer them the self-employment option.
The Corps Members were equally informed that topmost on the priority list of the Director General was the safety and welfare of the Corps Members and advised them to be security conscious at all times.
“The Scheme is still resolute in her condemnation of night travels and unauthorized journeys,” the Coordinator assured the Corps Members.
She used the opportunity to appreciate all the stakeholders that contributed to the huge success recorded in the exercise.
