The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Mohammad Kaku Fadah has implored Corps members to sustain a high level of discipline and enthusiasm in their service to the fatherland.
The NYSC boss appealed at the official Swearing-In Ceremony of Corps members deployed to Imo State for the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Eziama Obaire, Imo State.
The Director-General represented by the NYSC Imo State Coordinator, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor urged them to remain compliant with the camp rules and regulations while avoiding vices such as cultism, drug abuse, and negative use of social media that bring disintegration rather they should deploy acts that will promote national unity and development.
He further encouraged them to utilize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by participating in all the camp activities.
The DG implied them to be readily available to all the programmes of the exercise such as the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme which will empower them at the end of the service year and be self-employed as white-collar jobs are not available.
Expressing his gratitude to the government at all levels, security agencies, corps employers, and other stakeholders for their support in the areas of security and the welfare of Corps Members, he further enjoined the Corps Members to reciprocate the kind gesture by putting in their best in their places of primary assignment where they are expected to contribute their quota to the development of the nation.
He equally appealed to all stakeholders in the call for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund which will enhance the smooth operations of the scheme, especially by addressing the challenges of infrastructure and providing start-up capital for Corps Members.
At the ceremony presided over by the NYSC Imo State Coordinator, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, a total of 1157 comprising 472 Males and 685 Females were sworn in to commence the orientation exercise.
The administration of the Oath of allegiance was performed by the Chief Judge of Imo State, ably represented by Hon. Justice I. C Ibeawuchi.
