FIFTY-FIVE GRADUATES of Medical Laboratory Science from Babcock University, Ilisan, Ogun state were, on Monday, formally inducted by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
At the 12th induction and oath-taking ceremony which was held at the University’s 600-seater auditorium, Temidayo Ajayi emerged as the overall Best Student for the session.
The induction event marked a significant milestone in the careers of the young medical laboratory scientists.
In his keynote address themed: “Empowering Personal, Public and Global Health through Diagnostic Medicine”, Prof. Festus Olajubu of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State emphasized the critical role of medical laboratory scientists in healthcare delivery and the importance of diagnostic medicine in shaping public and global health outcomes.
The Don reminded the inductees of the need to uphold the ethics of the profession as well as set achievable goals.
“Get exposure through conference attendance and training workshops and set achievable goals for yourself,” said Prof. Olajubu.
He added, “Be respectful and yet dignify your profession.”
The Registrar/CEO of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Dr. Tosan Erhabor also lent his voice in encouraging the new inductees to always respect the confidentiality of their patients.
“Whatever you do, you must maintain this and respect this ethics,” he said.
In his charge to the fresh graduates, President/Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo urged the inductees to remember that their oath was not just a promise to uphold the standards of their profession but also a commitment to continually strive for excellence and integrity.
“As you take your oath, remember that this is not just a promise to uphold the standards of your profession but also a commitment to continually strive for excellence, integrity and compassion in all your actions,” he said.
The Dean of the School of Public and Allied Health, Prof. Dora Akinboye and Head of Department, Dr. Esther Adejumo also wished them the best in their future careers.
The ceremony was attended by parents, guardians, and well-wishers of the inductees, as well as faculty members and staff of the university.
